Episode Nine

Two Married Geeks: Episode Nine: After regeneration, a new face and sonic screwdriver.

Here we have the re-invented "Two Married Geeks." El and Chris have decided that instead of continuing with the prior format, it's time to move into territory not covered by Are You Serious? Mainly, this show will focus on some movies, but mostly television. What kind of shows you ask? Doctor Who and when it starts up again in a few weeks, Futurama. More will be added as time goes on, but all the regular shows just had their season enders, so....

In this episode, Chris and El review Shrek Forever After and attempt to take on the most recent season of Doctor Who right up to Vampires of Venice. The Shrek review is spoiler free, but the Doctor Who talk isn't, so be warned.

Music this week is from:

Letters to Cleo - Here and Now

They Might Be Giants - Experimental Film

13 ideas to live by

1. I love you not for who you are, but for who I am when I am with you.

2. Not all people deserve your tears, and those that do won’t make you cry.

3. Just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to, doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all their soul.

4. A true friend is someone that takes you by the hand and touches your heart.

5. The worst way to miss someone is to be seated next to them and know you can never have them.

6. Never stop smiling, not even when you’re sad because you never know when someone will fall in love with your smile.

7. You may be only one person to the world, but for one person you are the world.

8. Don’t spend time with someone who is not willing to spend time with you.

9. Maybe God wants you to meet many wrong people before you meet the right person so that when you finally meet them, you know how to be thankful.

10. Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.

11. There will always be people that will hurt you, all you have to do is to stay confident and be more cautious in who you trust next time.

12. Become a better person and be sure of who you are before meeting someone else and expect that person to know who you are.

13. Don’t try so hard, the best things happen when you least expect them.

About textual harassment

On the last show, we discussed how dating can have it's own forms of abuse. Demise from "First Time Caller" sent me the link for the ad about when caring becomes controlling. It's from the website www.thatsnotcool.com and it deals with textual harassment , requests for pictures, constant IMs and texts. There is a whole new way for people to be controlled and harassed in relationships thanks to cell phones.

You can check out the video here and if you are a victim of this form of harassment, there is a whole lot of options that you have available to you when you decide to seek help.

Two Married Geeks Episode Seven

Hi everyone,

El and I know that this will not be an episode for everyone. We discuss some of the problems that people encounter that could result in an abusive relationship. This can be a touchy subject and a potentially dangerous one as well, but one that we felt should not be ignored.

We discuss what could constitute mental and psychical abuse and how to identify the signs. Since every relationship is different, we talk in broad strokes about identifying behaviors.

During the show, we list off some phone numbers and websites that could be helpful if you find yourself in an abusive situation. They are:

http://www.helpguide.org/mental/domestic_violence_abuse_help_treatment_prevention.htm

A non-profit resource

http://www.rainn.org/

Rape Abuse and Incest National Network

http://www.helpabusedwomen.org/

Call 1-800-547-1649

http://www.ndvh.org/

National Domestic Violence Hotline

1.800.799.SAFE (7233) 1.800.787.3224 (TTY)

Anonymous & Confidential Help 24/7

Always keep in mind that you can talk to your Doctor, Clergy, or the Police among others if you need help. To our international listeners, I apologize for not listing sites to help you in your own country, but you could talk to the above mentioned people and they can point you in the right direction.

You don't need to stay in an abusive relationship. You deserve to be happy and safe. Leaving may very well be the most difficult and terrifying thing you ever do, but it will be worth it to put that part of your life behind you. No one should live in fear.

If you know of other places that should be added to our list, please e-mail them to:

Two Married Geeks Episode Six

Two Married Geeks Episode Six: How Do You Know When It's Over?

Hello everyone, in this episode we have made some small changes. The first thing you may notice is that we have shortened the length of the show. We decide for now to focus on one topic per show. We think that this will keep the episodes a little more focused and a little less rambling.

In this episode, we discuss how you can tell if a relationship is over. We have some real life examples, but they are extremes of situations that you may encounter. Then we answer listener feedback, and call it a night.

Music in this episode is from:
The Smithereens - "Yesterday Girl"
Powerman 5000 - "The End is Over"
Lick the Tins - "Can't Help Falling in Love"

We hope you enjoy the new and (hopefully) improved Two Married Geeks!

Episode Five: You have to trust them and talk.

Hello, welcome to episode five of Two Married Geeks."

In this episode, we discuss how important trust is in a relationship as well as communication. Without either of these things, maintaining a relationship can be extremely difficult, if not impossible.

We also veer wildly off topic, talk about people we know without naming names, and make fun of each other a bit, then we answer voice mail.

Don't forget if you have questions or comments, you can write to us at:
twomarriedgeeks@gmail.com
or call us at:
206-309-9178

Thanks for your support everyone, and if you like the show, you can always vote for it on podcast alley, or leave a review on iTunes, under the Are You Serious feed of course.

We'll talk again in two weeks!
